UPCOMING: Science Cafe: Radiation and Reason: Should we still welcome nuclear power? May 3rd

Speaker: Professor Wade Allison, Oxford University We have all been brought up to see radiation, especially nuclear radiation, as quite exceptionally dangerous -- unimaginably dangerous, even. But let's ask the question, why do we believe that radiation is dangerous? And, in fact, how dangerous is it? Or, if we use it carefully as we have learnt to do with fire, is nuclear technology to be welcomed? And has Fukushima changed anything? Find out more, http://www.radiationandreason.com and see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-12860842 Copies of the book will be on sale £12. Professor Wade Allison is a nuclear and medical physicist at Oxford University Science Cafe meetings are free to attend and all are welcome, there is no need to book a place, just join us on the night. Cardiff Science Cafe is supported by Cardiff University Community Engagement Team.
